Many professional engineering societies have codes of ethics that a member must stand by at all times. Everyone in the workplace should always work upon a basic code of ethics. Based upon the various ethics of engineering societies, I made a draft for standard ethics for everyone as far as caution is concerned.
1) I will always protect the interests, health, and well being of the general public.
2) My work is for the benefit of others; if it is not everything that I claim it to be, then I shall not continue to make such claims.
3) No bribes will be accepted for any sort of work or promotion of any project.
4) Do not claim areas of non-expertise as an area of expertise.
5) Never remain silent in the face of danger. If the project puts you at risk, let others know
6) Never let any problems or any possible issues remain unknown to superiors or the public.
7) They should do work in their field of expertise and should not claim the work of others as their own.
8) Credit should always be given to the team. The team should be recognized with the accomplishment.
9) If a product or project is dangerous, the public should be alerted.
10) If a product or project has potential dangers, they should be documented and available to the public.
11) If in doubt, alert others. Uncertainty can be the saving grace for many people, but word must be spoken.
12) Reports should be as accurate as possible and include important details.
13) Truth is above all the most important thing.
14) Integrity is to be maintained at all times.
